Prez Bhandari lays foundation stone for quake memorial park

Gorkha, April 24: President Bidya Devi Bhandari laid the foundation stone for the construction of quake memorial park at Barpak in the district.

Barpak is the epicentre of the last year’s devastating earthquake that caused huge casualties and damage of physical property in the country.

The park is being constructed in memory of the persons killed in the Gorkha Quake last year. The park will be constructed at an area covering Barpak ward nos. 4 and 5.

Also today, President Bhandari laid the foundation stone for the construction of a house of quake survivor Gopal BK.
After laying the foundation stone, President Bhandari released the name list and details of the quake survivors receiving grants from the government side.

President Bhandari also attended a programme held in the premises of the Himalayan Higher Secondary School. After inspecting Barpak area for around 45 minutes, President Bhandari left for Laprak, said Superintendent of Police Janakraj Pandey.

The Non Residential Nepalese (NRN) is to support the reconstruction projects in Laprak. It is learnt that a team of National Reconstruction Authority has reached Laprak to sign an agreement facilitating NRN’s work on the reconstruction projects there.
