TRC member Bhatta vows to counter any pressure



Baglung, April 28: Truth and Reconciliation Commission member, Dr Madhavi Bhatta, today vowed to counter any pressure created on the Commission.

Speaking at a programme held by Local Peace Committee, Baglung, Bhatta maintained that the Commission would not compromise on probing into the facts and truths related to the incidents of ‘grave human rights violation’ during the armed conflict.

“Justice is the backbone of the Commission, it was not formed to grant amnesty to the culprits,” Bhatta stressed, adding, “There have not been any pressure on the Commission in relation to its work and we will counter pressure coming from any side.”

Bhatta further assured of the Commission’s steadfast commitment to providing justice to the victims of the incidents of serious human rights violation.

Discussions will be held in deputing mobile teams to the rural parts of the country to collect complaints from the insurgency victims, Bhatta said. The Commission plans to collect complaints from the Local Peace Committees in 75 districts.

A total of 16 complaints have been registered in Baglung among which 11 are related to Truth and Reconciliation Commission whereas five with Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons. RSS
