Speaker Gharti and Deuba holds meeting

Kathmandu, April 29: Speaker Onsari Gharti held a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilakantha on Friday.

During the meeting, Gharti urged Deuba to resolve the existing differences over the Parliamentary Regulations at the earliest. In response, Deuba expressed his dissatisfation over the nominations of Supreme Court Justices and ambassadors.

He also accused the government of taking unilateral decision in nominating them. Earlier on Thursday, Gharti had held separate meeetings with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to discuss the same.

Even seven months have already passed since the promulgation of Constitution, the Parliament is still unable to endorse the Regulations to regulate its activities. In its absence, parliamentary hearings for appointments of the Chief Justice, 11 SC Justices and 21 ambassadors could not be held despite their nominations.
