Election within Jestha is possible if government advances election-related act before Magh 15: Chief Commissioner Yadav

Ayodhee

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said that unless the government advances required election act before Magh 15, election cannot be held within Jestha 2074.

Speaking at an interaction program at Reporters’ Club Nepal today, Dr. Yadav expressed his dissatisfaction toward the government for not being able to offer any laws related to election to Election Commission in time. “The first government formed after the Constitutional Assembly election in 2070 had one primary responsibility of accomplishing Local Level Election. It is a disappointment which has not happended yet.”

“The government has not offered any acts related to election to the commission yet. We have started preparation based on previous acts related to election. If offers any, we will start with that.” he added while speaking at the program presided by Club’s President Rishi Dhamala.

He urged for building up political trust among the parties and added that the election commission is all set and is doing homework for managing required resources to hold election in time.

He also suggested for separate election of province and House of representatives.
