KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Today’s cabinet meeting has decided on the various issues. Minister for Information and Communication Surendra Kumar Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, at the end of the meeting informed the media persons about on what topics today’s cabinet meeting decided. Let have a look at that:

The meeting has decided to merge the NIDC Development Bank with the Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB), according to Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki who is also the government spokesperson.

The government is learnt to have decided to merge the state-owned NIDC Development Bank with another state owned RBB to make latter stronger.

The meeting agreed to appoint Tribhuvan University (TU) former rector Dr Mahendra Singh as an expert on the Vice Chairperson Selection Committee of the Poverty Alleviation Fund.

Besides, the meeting formally decided to host the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit in the capital this year. However, the date and venue for the meeting has not been yet disclosed.

The meeting decided to conduct a scientific land survey of Thurlung and Chhulup areas around Lomanthang of Mustang, and to form a committee to make the registration of land occupied by the people of Belahani and Maspur of Nawalparasi. The land survey has not yet taken place in Thurlung and Chhulup areas.

As per the meeting decision, Shailendra Giri has been appointed on the post of Executive Director of Nepal Administrative Staff College, Jawalakhel and Prakash Mathema has been promoted to the post of Secretary.

More, the Cabinet meeting formed a three-member committee headed by Special Court’s former chair Gauri Bahadur Karki to enforce agreement reached between the government and TU Teaching Hospital’s senior orthopedist Dr Govinda KC.

The committee comprises Bir Hospital’s former registrar Dr Shree Krishna Giri as a member and the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education as the member secretary.

Likewise, the government decided to widen the North-South Trade Route that includes Bhedetar-Rabi section and roadways in Bhalubang, Lamahi, Gorahi Tulsipur Sada Project and also to proceed ahead with establishing the project officer for Gandak Canal and Mahakali Master Plan.

As per the decision of the meeting, the report of the Local Body Restructuring Commission shall be taken for discussions at a political level before presenting it to the Cabinet meeting, as said by Minister Karki. RSS
