Govt issued identity card to serve as voter ID card

KATHMANDU, May 13: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to allow the voters to cast their ballots based on the identity cards with photograph issued by the government bodies, in case voters were unable to get hold of their voters’ identity card.

As per the decision of the EC, the voters could use their franchise by possessing voter identity card issued by the EC in 2070 BS, passport, driving licence, land ownership card or any other certificate with photograph issued from the government agencies.

Furthermore, the details of the citizenship could be made valid based on clause 48 of the Local Level Polls Directive, 2073 by considering minor mistake in case some errors were seen in the voter name list and voters identity card.
