We will take strict actions against poll disruptors: Home Secy Regmi

KATHMANDU, May 13: Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi has said that all the preparations for the first phase local polls has been completed. He added voters’ security has also been ensured.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal on Saturday, Regmi said, “We have ensured the security to voters in all three levels. We are working round the clock to avoid any kind of unpleasant activities.”

He added, “The security forces have been deployed in three circles to all the local units in three provinces. Nepal Police will remain in the first ring, while Armed Police Force and civil servants of National Investigation in the second and Nepal Army in the third ring.”

He added that the government has formed clusters in polling booths, in which mobile teams and strike teams of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force will be deployed. Likewise, Nepal Army will also closely monitor the booths. Nepal Army also inspect using helicopters in the sensitive places.

He added, “We have arranged strict security. Voters can now cast votes freely and fearlessly.”

Regmi also clarified that the incidents aimed at foiling the election have lowered after Home Ministry took strict actions and increased surveillance against the warnings.

He added, “Some evil and inferior factors with an intention to disrupt election can become active during the polling. But we are very alert about such disruptors.”
