President wishes peace, prosperity on 10th Republic Day

KATHMANDU, May 29: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended greetings to all Nepalis on the occasion of the 10th Republic Day today. She wished that the Republic Day would inspire all for maintaining peace, prosperity and good governance in the country.

She paid tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives in various movements for the establishment of Loktantra.

In the Republic Day message, President Bhandari said the democratic republic system with sovereignty in people should be institutionalized in people’s life.

“I’m confident that the first round of local level election has helped boost democracy in Nepal,” she added.

Similarly, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has underscored the need of consensus and cooperation among the political parties for the progress in the country.

Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 10th Republic Day today, the Vice-President reminded the role of the first Constituent Assembly which had formally ended monarchy and announced the federal democratic republic.

“I am confident that the Republic Day would inspire all to make the coming elections successful as was the first round of local level election in order to institutionalise the federal system,” Vice-President Pun said in the message. RSS
