Pedestrians in traffic police monitoring: at least 1443 taken action today (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, May 30: Traffic police have taken strict action against at least 1443 pedestrians who were found crossing the street randomly without using zebra crossing, sky-bridge or subway, in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

“Till Tuesday afternoon, as many as 1443 improper pedestrians have been taken action for disregarding traffic rules while about 634 were made to attend traffic awareness classes,” said Inspector Sunil Shah at Traffic Police Department in Durbarmarga.

The traffic campaign had started at 8 am in the morning.

Traffic police had fined Rs 200 to each pedestrian for neglecting the traffic rules; while those who were not able to pay fine were given traffic lessons for three hours.
