Former ANFA official arrested on charge of conning over Rs 7 m



KATHMANDU, June 22: Police arrested the former General Secretary of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) from Tokha in the Capital today on the charge of swindling 25-30 individuals out of over Rs 7 million.

Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, also former national football player, has been accused of taking the amount from around 30 people, promising them visa for Canada as footballer players.

Victims have produced bank slips they received after what they claimed depositing the money in Sahi’s bank account before the police. The slips read that they paid Sahi Rs 250 thousands each.

Police arrested Shahi acting on a complaint filed by the victims that Shahi fleeced them, promising them to send to Canada, said Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Amatya at Metropolitan Crime Division, Kathmandu. Investigations would be initiated, he added. RSS
