Naya Shakti coordinator Bhattarai hands over memo to PM Deuba
KATHMANDU, July 12: Dr Baburam Bhattarai, former Prime Minister and coordinator of Naya Shakti Party Nepal has handed over a memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s official residence at Baluwatar on Wednesday.
Bhattarai, in the 13-points memorandum, has condemned the previous government’s decision to award the contract to construct the Budhi Gandaki Hydro Power Project to China’s Gezhouba Group Corporation as against the national interest. Bhattarai has demanded that the government terminate the contract regarding the project immediately.
Bhattarai, in the memo, has questioned the credibility of the company and has also demanded the government to take action against blacklisted the company which could not construct 60 MW Trishuli 3A within specified time; which breached the contract of the Chimile project so that the deposit amount of the project had to be siezed and which took more than 10 years to build 30 MW Chameliya Project and even evaded Rs 1.16 billion tax.
While submitting the memorandum, Dr Bhattarai reminded PM Deuba about the 40 points memorandum the then CPN (Maoist Center) had submitted 22 years ago. Bhattarai shared that the memo handed then was about the political issues while, the memo submitted now is related to development.
Meanwhile, Deuba had shared that Maoist had started the armed conflict before the deadline given to the government then.
