Road pits and potholes to be filled soon: Minister Balayar

KATHMANDU, July 28: Newly appointed Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport Bir Bahadur Balayar has expressed his commitment to fill the pit on the roads of Kathmandu as immediately as possible. He however added that immediately blacktopping the road pits and potholes would be just a temporary solution and could require re-digging as water projects and drain management projects are under way.

“But we are planning for a long-term solutions to currently experienced problems regarding road management,” said Minister Balayar addressing an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Friday.

“There are technical difficulties which need proper planning and permanent solutions. We are coordinating with the Urban development Ministry, Water Supply Ministry and Home Ministry so as to figure out related problems and provide a long-term solution to them,” he added.

Stating that he had monitored the road repair works being carried out in the capital on Thursday, he furthered, “We have already issued directives to the concerned authorities for speeding up road repair works by maintaining coordination.”

On a different note, he said that he didn’t choose politics to fulfill his personal political motives but to serve the people and for the betterment of the country.

Reckoning that he had committed to work 15 hours daily while taking oath of office and secrecy, he said, “Today is my second day at the ministry and I have already started working 15 hours a day. I am committed and dedicated to working for the people and country.”

He further added that he would do result-oriented works solving the problems the Ministry is currently facing.
