KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Leader of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) Hridayesh Tripathi has claimed that conduction of elections without amending the constitution will not bring political stability in the country.

Speaking during an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Monday, leader Tripathi said, “Leader of top political parties have claimed that the successful completion of all three elections in Nepal will establish political stability in the country- which is nothing but a lie.”

“The elections are being conducted in a hurry and will not lead the country to any resolution from the current political stalemate,” he added.

He further said that the Constitution of Nepal 2047 (1991) collapsed since it did not see any amendments. He added, “The leaders only claimed it to be one of the best constitutions in the world.”

“Any constitution which cannot be amended will meet the same fate. The Constitution of Nepal 2015 rules out people’s interest and will ultimately fail if amendments in its articles are avoided,” added Tripathi.

On the occasion, Tripathi also said that although India and Nepal shared a positive relationship, it shouldn’t be limited to Kathmandu and Delhi.

He brought the reference of the meeting of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Indo-Nepal relation and said, “The EPG meeting doesn’t include any Madhesi representatives.”

“It is unfortunate.”

“We cannot rule out Terai-Madhes in the Indo-Nepal relation,” he added.
