PM Deuba arrives home concluding five-day State visit to India

Visit successful to boost nation’s prestige: PM Deuba
KATHMANDU, Aug. 27: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has returned home Sunday evening by wrapping up his five-day State visit to India.
At a news conference organized in the VVIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport after his arrival, PM Deuba said that his visit to India heightened nation’s prestige and it helped strengthen the Nepal-India bilateral relations.
Reading out a press note during the news conference, PM Deuba said that his visit laid foundation to further strengthen Nepal-India relations.
The PM said that consensus was forged to adopt appropriate measures for the long term solution to the problems caused by flooding and inundation in the Nepal-India border areas. “I have put this issue with the Chief Minister of Bihar as well,” PM Deuba reminded.
The PM said that agreement was made to finalize a detailed project report (DPR) of the long-pending Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project, adding the process would be finalized by ensuring the benefit that Nepal would get from the project.
Likewise, he said that the Indian side shared that it had finalized the DPR of the head regulator and link canal that India was supposed to construct in the Tanakpur dam.
Moreover, an agreement was reached to come up with appropriate ways to implement all aspects of power trade agreement apart from resuming operation of trade transit points like Dhangadhi-Gauriphanta, Gulariya-Murtiya, Jatahi-Piparaun and Pashupati-Sukiyapokhari by upgrading them.
Both sides agreed upon establishing a quarentine service centre for facilitating access of Nepali agricultural and industral products to the Indian market.
Settling the deal in relation to the use of railway service and bulk cargo that come into Nepal from third countries for making the transit facility that the country is enjoying more effective was also agreed during the State visit.
The PM further said India’s political leadership and private sector were requested to invest in Nepal, said an official, who was part of the delegation.
Along with it, an agreement in principle was forged to construct a technical institute in Far West and GP Koirala Respiratory Disease Control Centre in Tanahun with the Indian grants.
Similarly, agreement was made to intensify discussion for the constructions of Kushinagar-Lumbini and Bardibas-Birjung Railway, developing the Birgunj-Pathlaiya Narayanghadh and Butwal-Pokhara road sections as fast track, construction of International Airport in Nijgadha, Bara, and construction of bridges over Mahakali River, construction of Maitri bridges on Birgunj-Raxaul, construction of a dry port at Dodhara-Chandani, and development of Nepal Special Economic zone (SEZ) .
Similarly, agreement has been forged to forward the process for the construction of 132 KV transmission line, Butwal Gorakhpur and Lamki Transmission Line. PM Deuba shared that he had urged Indian Prime Minister Modi to sort out the problems faced by Nepali number bearing LPG bullets in India.
“We- I and Indian PM- jointly inaugurated the transmission line of Kataiya-Kushaha and Raxhaul-Parbanipur, ensuring 100 MW electricity immediately to Nepal,” the PM said, adding that various eight agreements were made during the visit.
It was also agreed during the visit to make the SAARC and BIMSTEC further effective so as to promote regional cooperation.
PM Deuba asserted that various high level meetings held in course of his State visit to India helped enhance trust between the two countries in addition to creating atmosphere of assistance for the development of energy, promotion of trade, tourism and connectivity.
A positive environment was created for the quick implementation of the past agreements on mega projects, PM Deuba shared. RSS
