No force can defeat UML in Province 2 election: Rawal
KATHMANDU, Sept 6: CPN-UML Vice-chair Bhim Rawal said that UML would become the first party in the upcoming third phase of local level election in Province 2.
“UML has strong influence throughout Terai-Madhes. I have heard that the ruling partners Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) are forming alliance in the local levels located near the highway area, but I can guarantee no forces can defeat UML in the upcoming election,” said Rawal while speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Rawal also accused the government of appointing officers in provinces at its own accord and warned that the opposition would seek option for the incumbent government if not done otherwise.
“I have heard about the government’s voluntarily appointment of officers in various provincial units. They haven’t even consulted with us. If the government keeps on doing this, we will have to act some concrete steps against it,” said Rawal while speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday.
“The government is doing this at the time when the election code of conduct is already in effect. They have already transferred the secretary of the Election Commission three times. It should be stopped,” he added.
Commenting on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s raising of the constitution amendment issue in Delhi, he said, “Does PM Deuba regard Nepal as a sovereign country or a ruling unit of some foreign country? The joints press release between the two head of state contains some points that are against the national interest.”
He further said “The people will punish such forces through election.”
