Two held in connection of confiscation of 88 kilos gold

RASUWA, Sept 7: Two drivers have been arrested from Rasuwa in connection to a case related to the confiscation of 88 kilos of smuggled gold from Chhetrapati of Kathmandu few days back.

Rasuwa District Police Chief Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri said the arrested are Damba Tamang of Syafrubesi and Dilip Khadka of Sindhupalchowk. They allegedly helped smugglers in transportation of the contraband onto Nepali territory for China via a motorable road and have been sent to Kathmandu for further investigations.

The Tata Safari jeep ( Ba 17 Cha 6427) used to carry the smuggled gold to the capital from the district was found registered only at Nepal-China border point, though there are three others security check posts of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the Nepalese Army at different locations from Rasuwagadhi to Betrawati, according to the police.
