KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Election Commission has asked journalist Rishi Dhamala not to broadcast the interview of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba citing that would violate the election code of conduct.

Dhamala had asked for permission to the EC to live broadcast interview of PM Deuba at Nepali Radio Network on Saturday morning, but the spokesperson of the EC Navaraj Dhakal refused to give permission arguing that the silent period had already begun since Friday mid-night.

Spokesperson Dhakal also urged the government, political parties, civil society and other respective bodies to abide by the election code of conduct.

“The EC alone cannot make everyone to keep to the code. It is the duty of every concerned bodies to abide by the election code,” added Dhakal.
