Political culture, civic education and good governance imperative to make constitution live: PM Deuba



Constitution Day

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended his best wishes to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the Constitution Day today.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba wished that the Day would inspire all of us to move ahead to the path of national unity and prosperity being conscious to the rights and responsibilities.

In a message if best wishes delivered today, he noted that the Constitution of Nepal is the best across the globe from the perspective of democratic values, inclusion and civil liberties.

The Constitution has possessed the salient features of federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, periodic elections, human rights, participatory political system, independent judiciary, respect to UN charters and orientation to socialism, the PM noted.

In the message, he further stressed the need to gradually enable the democratic institutions envisioned by the Constitution for its successful implementation.

The Prime Minister added that the country would usher into a new era of political stability and economic development following the accomplishment of all three tiers of local, provincial and federal elections.

The Constitution is a live and dynamic political document, he said, adding it requires good political culture, civic education and well governance to make the national charter live.

PM Deuba went on noting that the country could reach to the important destination as envisaged by the Constitution only when the poverty, inequality, illiteracy and conflicts prevailing in the society are adequately addressed.

He also called for support from all sides to put concerted efforts to achieve the constitutional objectives for the greater good the country. RSS
