NC to form broad democratic alliance with five other parties

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The Nepali Congress (NC) has reached a decision to form a broad democratic alliance with five other political parties for the upcoming election of House of Representatives and State Assemblies. The alliance will be led by NC president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, sources confirmed.

As part of the NC’s effort to forge an alliance with democratic forces, a meeting held on Wednesday evening at PM Deuba’s official residence in Baluwatar with Rastriya Janata Party Nepal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Democratic), Federal Socialist Forum and Democratic Forum Nepal.

According the RPP Chief Whip Dilnath Giri, the formal proceedings of the alliance among these democratic parties is on the final stage.

The NC had called the meeting in order to discuss the new political developments following the three leftist parties’ decision to form electoral alliance for the upcoming polls.

On Tuesday, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Naya Shakti Party formed a broader leftist alliance and announced to unify parties after the upcoming elections.
