New Chief Secretary vows to make civil service committed to statute execution

KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Newly-appointed Chief Secretary of the Government, Lok Darshan Regmi has said that the attention would be focused on making the civil service committed to constitution implementation as per its letter and spirit.

“My major work and responsibility is to facilitate in the implementation of the government’s policies and decisions. I will remain dedicated to this work and this is my priority,” said Regmi while taking charge of his office today.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday appointed Regmi to the top bureaucratic position of the country. He succeeded Rajendra Kishor Chhetri who retired from Tuesday due to age bar. Regmi was the Home Secretary before his appointment as the Chief Secretary.

The Chief Secretary signed on endorsed papers related to constituting a study committee for making the service at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers more organized and efficient, and also for its organizational review, while assuming office.

The Secretary at the OPMCM looking after governance reform is the coordinator of the committee. The committee has been given two months to prepare a report in two months from the date it starts its works.

Chief Secretary Regmi was welcomed by the secretaries at the OPMCM and special class officers of various ministries.
