KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Nepali Congress (NC) and the Madhes-based parties Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) have electoral adjustments deal for ensuring their top leaders’ victory in various electoral constituencies.

According to the agreement, NC has decided support RJPN presidium committee coordinator Mahantha Thakur in Mahottari-3 while withdrawing candidacy of Bajaranga Nepali from the constituency. However, Nepali’s candidacy could not be withdrawn because of technical reasons.

Similarly, NC has decided to support FSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav in Saptari-2 and FSFN candidates in Siraha-2 and 3; and in exchange NC has asked FSFN to support Pradip Giri in Siraha-1. NC’s Sakal Dev Sutiyar had filed his candidacy against Yadav while FSFN’s Raj Lal Yadav is the official candidate in Siraha-1.

However, despite adjustment deal, both NC failed to withdraw candidacy of Nepali (in Mahottari-3), Sutiyar (in Saptari-2), and other candidates from Siraha-2, Siraha-3 owing to technical reasons. Likewise, FSFN also failed to withdraw candidacy of Raj Lal Yadav in Giri’s constituency.

But, FSFN has withdrawn Manoj Kumar Yadav’s candidacy from Sunsari-4 to support NC candidate Gyanendra Bahadur Karki in the constituency. NC will support FSFN candidate Ashok Rai in Sunsari-1.

However, in Dhanusha-3, NC’s Bimalendra Nidhi and RJPN’s Rajendra Mahato will contest each other for the parliamentary position. Despite all the attempts, NC has failed to persuade RJPN candidate Rajendra Mahato to withdraw his candidacy in the constituency.
