DHANGADHI, Nov 15: Nepali Congress president and Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the people have the right to choose between democracy or authoritarianism in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a Nepali Congress election campaign assembly at Lamki of Kailali district constituency-2 on Wednesday, he said people could enjoy individual freedom only in a democracy and not in a one-party communist political system.

PM Deuba said the country was at a difficult juncture and that only the Nepali Congress could ensure development and prosperity in the country.

“I became the Prime Minister four times with the support of the people of the far-west region and you have the right to argue with me,” he said.

Stating that the government under his leadership had constructed the bridge over the Karnali river at Chisapani as well as 22 bridges on the Chisapani-Mahendranagar section of the East-West highway, PM and Nepali Congress president Deuba urged the people of the far-west region to give him an upper hand in the elections as he is also the resident of the region.

Nepali Congress candidate from Kailali district constituency 1, Ishwari Neupane said the development and prosperity of the country was possible only under the Nepali Congress’ leadership which has successfully spearheaded every movement in the country.

Similarly, the party’s candidate from Kailali constituency-2 Mohan Singh Rathour said their victory was ensured with the formation of the democratic alliance. Former lawmaker Rathour quit CPN-UML to join the Nepali Congress only three weeks back.

Party president Deuba welcomed local leaders and cadres of the CPN-UML and the Maoist Center who joined the NC after quitting their respective parties. RSS
