PM agrees to conduct National Assembly election on Feb 8: CEC Yadav

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Prime Minister has agreed to hold the National Assembly election on February 8, according to Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav.

Earlier, matter related to the fixation of date for the National Assembly election was discussed at a meeting held between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav at PM’s residence, Baluwatar, this evening, said the PM’s Office.

On the occasion, CEC Yadav recommended the Prime Minister that it would be the suitable to declare the national assembly election date for 8 February 2018.

During the meet, PM Deuba said the date for election would probably be set for February 8 as per the consultation with the Election Commission.

However, the official date regarding the election of the upper house will be taken by the cabinet, said Yadav.
