Police fails to find former DIG Silwal in his Lalitpur-based residence
SILWAL READY TO ASSIST POLICE IN INVESTIGATION
KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Nepal Police have failed to arrest former DIG and newly elected House of Representative member Nawaraj Silwal on Wednesday.
Police had reached Silwal’s residence in Lalitpur today afternoon following the arrest warrant issued by the Kathmandu Police on Tuesday. But the police failed to find him since Silwal is currently in Malaysia.
The former DIG has clarified that he is not absconding since he is visiting Malaysia for a scheduled event.
Silwal also said that he is ready to assist police in the investigation on the forgery charges accused against him. Silwal has been accused of forging the documents of his performance evaluation and submitting to the Supreme Court in order to claim his promotion to the IGP last year.
Silwal has also accused Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chief of Nepal Police Prakash Aryal of unnecessarily spreading rumor despite knowing his whereabouts.
Aryal was appointed Chief on April last year as he secured 154.2 points while Silwal scored 152.46. Previously, the SC annulled February 12 decision of the government to appoint Jaya Bahadur Chand as the Inspector General of Police following the challenge from seniormost DIG Silwal.
