Prov 2 assembly meeting concludes, next meeting on Feb 12

SPEAKER ELECTION SET FOR FEB 14

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The first assembly meeting of Province 2 has concluded. The meeting was held at the Teachers’ Training Center in Janakpurdham on Sunday.

The meeting has set February 14 as the date for election of Speaker.

Senior-most province assembly member Lagan Lal Chaudhary chaired the meeting. He first read out the letter from the Province Chief summoning the session.

But the meeting was halted soon after it commenced after the lawmakers of Rastriya Janata Party protested demanded placing the photos of martyrs at the meeting hall. The UML lawmakers had showed objection over the RJPN leaders’ demand.

The meeting was then resumed after it was agreed to keep the martyrs’ photos in the next meeting.

One leader from each party had addressed the meeting. The leaders had stressed on eliminated illiteracy and poverty in Madhes.

The next meeting of the assembly has been scheduled for February 12.
