PM to inaugurate Chameliya Hydropower Project on February 10

DARCHULA, Feb 7: Chameliya Hydroelectricity Project, a project of national pride based at Balach, Shailya Shikhar Municipality-1, Darchula is to be formally inaugurated on February 10.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the project on February 10, Project chief Ajaya Dahal said. The 30-Megawatt-capacity project is constructed at a cost of Rs 16 billion with government investment.

The PM will be accompanied by Minister for Energy Kamal Thapa for the inauguration.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent a circular to the District Administration Office about this for making security arrangements, said Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam.

The project will produce 184.2 million units of power annually. It will make an annual income of Rs 1.10 billion, it is stated. It took nearly 11 years for the construction of the project. The project is constructed by the China Gezhouba Company Limited.
