Tarun Dal offers Prez a copy of constitution to protest against new recommendation on NA members

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Nepali Congress sister wing Nepal Tarun Dal has gifted a copy of constitution to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday as a symbolic protest against her move to overturn erstwhile Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government’s recommendation of National Assembly members.

A cabinet meeting on Tuesday recommended Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, Ram Narayan Bidari and Dr Bimala Poudel as the members of NA overturning the recommendations made by Nepali Congress President Deuba. Earlier, Deuba had recommended the names of Chandani Joshi, Gopal Basnet and Krishna Prasad Poudel as the NA members. 

The Tarun Dal presented the constitution to Prahlad Pudasaini, chief at the Office of President.

NA has made serious reservation to the government’s new recommendation.

The NC sister wing has termed President’s move as unconstitutional while stating that the head of the State did different treatment over the same recommendation. The Tarun Dal also submitted a memorandum urging the government to correct the decision.

Nepal Women Association chair Uma Regmi, Nepal Trade Union Congress chair Khila Dahal, Nepal Tarun Dal chair Jitjung Basnet, Nepal Students Union chair Nain Singh Mahar among others were present during the program.
