Election for the President on March 13

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Election for the post of the President is to be held on coming March 13.

The Election Commission on Thursday decided to hold the election as per the Clause 4(2) of the Act relating to the Election of the President and Vice-president, 2074 B.S., according to a press note issued by the EC spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.

Prior to deciding on the date, the EC had held consultation with the Prime Minister and representatives of various political parties.

Meanwhile, the EC has made public the calendar for the election to the post of the President.

As per the calendar, the name list of the voters would be made public on March 5. Likewise, nomination of the candidates is scheduled to be held on March 7 and final namelist of the candidates would be announced on March 8.

The voting will take place on the day from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on March 13 and the counting of the votes would begin at 4:00 on the same day, the EC said.
