Deuba alone cannot be blamed for party’s poor election result: Lekhak
KATHMANDU, Feb 24: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ramesh Lekhak has argued that party president Sher Bahadur Deuba alone cannot be blamed for party’s poor performance in recent House of Representative and Federal parliament elections.
The left alliance secured a landmark victory in the elections securing 116 [CPN-UML: 80 and CPN (Maoist Center): 36] seats under the first-past-the-post system. NC won 23 seats.
“It is party’s loss. The party should be responsible for the poor election performance. All the decisions were made in consultation with other leaders as well. Thus, it would be inappropriate to blame president Deuba alone for the election loss,” said Lekhak while taking to Rishi Dhamala at a radio program ‘Nepali Bahas’ on Saturday.
“Some may have less responsibility and some may have more. But, a single member cannot have all the responsibility,” he added.
He was of the view that the party needs to re-establish itself while managing internal disputes.
“After the unexpected result, one-sided debates criticizing Deuba is taking place within the party. But, it cannot lead the party to anywhere but destruction,” furthered Lekhak.
“We should all become responsible for party’s loss.”
