New elected Speaker Mahara takes oath

KATHMANDU, March 11: Newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara has taken oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Speaker Mahara at a special ceremony held at the Office of President, Sheetal Niwas this morning.

Also present at the ceremony were the Vice-president, the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, Ministers, heads of constitutional and securities bodies, high-ranking government officials.

Leader of the CPN (Maoist Center), Mahara was elected to the post of Speaker unopposed on Saturday.
