UML’s Tumbahamphe and NC’s Bhusal files candidacies for deputy-speaker
KATHMANDU, March 15: CPN-UML’s Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe and Nepali Congress’ Pushpa Bhusal has filed their candidacy for the election of deputy-Speaker scheduled for Friday.
CPN (Maoist Center)’s Dev Gurung has proposed Tumbahamphe’s candidacy and UML’s Rabindra Adhikari seconded it.
Likewise, Bhusal’s candidacy has been proposed by Dila Sangroula and seconded by Debendra Raj Kandel.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has fixed the election of a Deputy Speaker for 1:00 pm tomorrow. The time for filing the candidacy was from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today.
Maoist Center leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara was elected unopposed as the Speaker on March 10. The Article 91 of the Nepal’s constitution states that the elections of a Speaker and Deputy-Speaker shall be held within the 15 days of the commencement of the first meeting of the House of Representatives.
The lower house had held its first meeting on March 5.
