UML, Maoist Center intensify preparations for finalizing unification

KATHMANDU, March 24: CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have intensified efforts to take the unification process to a logical conclusion as soon as possible.

Both parties are learnt to have been speeding up intraparty and bilateral preparations to conclude the unification process within mid April if possible.

A meeting of Maoist Center’s central committee took place Saturday at party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s private residence, Khumaltar ended with an agreement to organize the unity coordination committee meeting within a few days and finalize the unification as soon as possible.

Talking to media people after the meeting, Maoist central office member Mani Thapa said intra-party and bilateral talks and discussions were underway to set the seal on the issue before April 23.

CHANGES IN PROVINCE IN-CHARGE RESPONSIBILITIES
The meeting has made changes to responsibilities of province in-charge. Ram Karki (Province 1), Bishwanath Shah (Province 2), Hitman Shakya (Province 3), Hitraj Pandey (Province 4), Mani Thapa (Province 5), Janardan Sharma (Province 6) and Lekhraj Bhatta (Province 7/ Karnali) have been given the responsibilities to take in-charge of respective provinces.

The changes were necessary as (Pervious) in-charge of Province 1 has quit the party, while Matrika Prasad Yadav (Province 2), Barshaman Pun (Province 5) and Shakti Basnet (Province 6) have become the ministers in the new government and Dev Prasad Gurung (Province 4) has been appointed the chief whip of parliamentary party, according to the party source. RSS
