Tourism Ministry unveils 100-day action plan
KATHMANDU, March 30: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has unveiled its 100-day action plan. It was disclosed amidst a press meet at the Ministry on Friday.
The plan lists 116 steps, covering 16 areas of work. Various works of a wider range from Reform of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to acceleration of five projects of national pride under its subordination to reconstruction of earthquake-damaged major heritage sties and policy- level and legal reforms in the tourism area have been incorporated in the document.
Unveiling the plan, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, pledged to fully implement commitments made through the action plan which according to him were not presented on a whim and as per his self-interest.
“The action plan aims to make every day of the Ministry’s honeymoon period productive and meaningful,” he said.
Bearing in mind growing air traffic jam in TIA, the government has planned to increase its operation hours from existing 17 hours in a day to 21 hours within the 100 days with improvements in other technical issues.
On the occasion, the Minister took the time to say that the country’s solo international airport would be made technology-friendly.
Presently, the TIA records 474 international flights in a day. The action plan promises to seek alternatives to TIA domestic flights.
According to information shared by the Minister on the occasion, preparations are underway to formulate tourism strategies and works will be initiated to amend the existing Tourism Act- 1978 and Tourism Policy-2008. RSS
