PM Oli, Indian Home Minister Singh discuss open border, security

NEW DELHI, April 8: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is presently on the three-day State Visit to India, held a meeting with India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
During the meeting held late evening Saturday at the Office of India’s President, matters on how to systematize the Nepal-India open borders and control the cross-border crimes were discussed. Briefing the media about the meeting, Prime Minister’s press advisor Kundan Aryal confirmed the discussions on making the open border system further systematic.
“Prime Minister Oli and Indian Home Minister Singh touched the issues about further systematizing the open border citing it as an incomparable example of friendship,” he said.
Stating that Nepal-India relations had reached to a new height with Prime Minister Oli assuming the office, the Indian Home Minister said he was further excited and happy to get a moment to welcome him (Oli) to his home.
“Nepal and India are not just neighbors, they are rich in fraternity, friendship and integrity as well,” Home Minister Singh said, adding that the Prime Minister’s visit had paved the way for moving ahead by addressing mutual concerns and interests.
On the occasion, Prime Minister said development and economic prosperity were the main agenda of Nepal, underlining the need of seeking and identifying sources of further bilateral cooperation to address such agenda.
Not only India but also Nepal had some problems due to the open border system, he apprised the Indian Minister, insisting on further systematizing this. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Yadav, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth and Prime Minister’s chief advisor Bishnu Rimal were present on the occasion.
