Relations among neighbors should be friendly: PM Oli

KATHMANDU, April 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need of making relations among neighbors friendly by ending all-types of differences seen among the SAARC member countries.

Unveiling a book titled ‘Effectiveness of SAARC and Regional Conference’ at a program organized by Federal Parliament Secretariat in the capital on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli said that building friendly relations based on mutual understanding, cooperation and collaboration among SAARC member states was essential peace and prosperity of the region.

The Prime Minister said, “Nepal is the current chair of the SAARC. There is misunderstanding among some members. However, it is necessary to create mutually cordial environment among the members”.

Similarly, Coordinator of Effectiveness of SAARC and Regional Cooperation and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said every member state needs the services of SAARC and hence all countries should join hands to enjoy its benefits.

He said despite some delay the book has come out as a very useful resource.
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara expressed concern over the delay in organizing of the SAARC Summit to be organized in every two years while stressing on the need to take SAARC ahead actively and effectively.

The book incorporates activities held in the two-day seminar of SAARC.

Present on the occasion were Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala and Secretary General of SAARC Secretariat, Amjad Hussain. RSS
