Modi announces Rs 1 billion assistance for development of Janakpur
KATHMANDU, May 11: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs 1 billion financial assistance for the development of Janakpur, capital of Province 2.
The visiting Indian PM announced the assistance while attending the civic – reception hosted by the provincial government and Janakpur Sub Metropolitan City at the Bargabigha ground.
Modi said that fund would be jointly operated by the federal and the provincial governments for the development of city and places in its vicinity.
Modi also said that he was planning to include Janakpur into the Ramayana Circuit.
Earlier, the Indian PM and Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli had jointly inaugurated the Ramayana Circuit Bus Route and flagged off Janakpur-Ayodhya bus service with green flags.
On the occasion, Chief Minister of Province 2, Lal Babu Raut and mayor Lal Kishor Shah, of Birgunj sub municipality jointly felicitated PM Modi with three garlands weighing121 kg each. Likewise, the mayor provided a key of the sub-municipality, and the province government provided a photo frame of Janaki temple to Indian PM Modi.
