Govt attempting to impose authoritarianism: Chair Thapa

KATHMANDU, May 24: Chairman of the Rastyriya Prajatantra Party, Kamal Thapa, has accused the government of attempting to impose authoritarianism by meting out hostility to the opposition parties.

Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Thursday, he also accused the government of interpreting the constitution as per its interest. “The government’s intention is clear. It is trying to bring authoritarianism in the country,” he added.

He further blamed the government of failing to work for peace, stability and democracy.

“The government will take 90 percent of employees, security bodies and judiciary under control in the coming two to three years,” he furthered accused.

Thapa also said that he was ready to quit the post for the making of nationalist democratic force.
