Police arrest Acharya Sriniwas for planning his own shooting

KATHMANDU, May 7: Morang Police have arrested religious leader Acharya Sriniwas on charge of planning his own shooting.

Acharya was shot in the premises of Ram Janaki temple in Biratnagar, Morang on April 8. Police had arrested four persons in connection with the shooting.

But the investigation showed that Acharya had hired Madhav Chaudhary, 29 from Bharatpur-4 and Laxmiraj Adhikari, 32 from Gaidakot-5, Nawalparasi to shoot him on his hands, according to SSP Arun BC.

According to Chaudhary’s statement, the religious leader Acharya had given them pistol and two bullets and ordered them to shoot at his hands. But ” the bullet his Acharya’s lap as the shot was misfired”.

Further investigation is still underway, according to the police.
