Eid al-fitr celebration kicks off in Kathmandu Valley (In pictures)
KATHMANDU, June 16: Islamic religious people have celebrated Eid al-fitr festival in Kathmandu Valley with excitement since this morning.
Eid al-fitr is the ‘feast of the breaking of the fast’ that begins when the moon rises on the final day of Ramadan.
The Muslim people begin the celebration of festival by collectively enchanting ‘Special Nawaz’ at mosque nearby. They take bath and wear new clothes before sitting for prayers.
They are seen exchanging Eid greetings among each other. The festival is celebrated for three consecutive days.
The festival celebration starts after noticing moon at the final day of the ninth month according to Islamic colander following 30- day fasting.
The Islam people also take this festival as a holy day to promote fraternity, brotherhood and love. Many returns to their family homes to celebrate.
