Muslims not happy with removal of Eid holiday
KAPILVASTU, June 16: The Muslim community across the country including from Kapilvastu on Saturday celebrated the Eid-Ul Fitre, one of the important religious festivals of the Muslims, wishing for peace and prosperity in the family, society, country and the world.
The festival was observed, praying to Allah (the Muslim God) for an end to violence and human massacre taking place in the world and restoration of world peace and feelings of humanity among all.
The Muslim community here read from the Namaj at 8:00 am today, and extended best wishes (Eid Mubarak), praying for peace and happiness in the nation.
On the occasion, the Muslim leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the government decision to exclude Eid holiday from the public holiday calendar.
As they say, the government was not serious towards the issues and rights of Muslims. The holiday guaranteed by the previous government was removed by the incumbent government, they said.
Muslims make up over four percent of the country’s total population.
The Muslims in the district gathered at local mosques and Id-gah (the open air enclosure) to celebrate the festival.
The festival marks the end of the month-long tough fasting (Roja). The festival of breaking the fast falls with the sighting of the crescent moon which may be seen earlier or later in specific locations.
In Nepal, it was sighted on Friday evening as stated by Muslim local religious authorities.
The festival is celebrated in respect to the Islamic religious leader Hajrat Mohammed Mustafa in recognition of his construction to the protection of religion. RSS
