Kerung-Kathmandu railway will complete in seven years: Badal
KATHMANDU, June 25: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) standing committee member Keshab Badal has said that the Kerung-Kathmandu railway project will be completed in seven years.
“The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Kerung-Kathmandu railway will be prepared within two years and the project will be completed in seven years,” said Badal at an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club Nepal on Sunday.
Though the deal on Kerung-Kathmandu railway has been dubbed as the most significant agreement reached between Nepal and China, it is yet uncertain when will it take off since the time frame and funding modality remains unclear.
“If possible, the railway should be built from Chinese and Indian grant. If not, a joint investment from both countries is another way to bring train in Nepal,’ he added.
Badal also claimed that Oli’s China visit was largely successful.
‘During PM’s visit, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had sent an invitation letter to Chinese president Xi Jinping requesting him to visit Nepal. I believe the Chinese President will visit Nepal soon,’ Badal added.
“Oli’s visit is largely successful,” he added.
