Thousands rally to address Dr KC’s demands
KATHMANDU, July 22: Noted figures of civil society including a former chief justice, human rights activists, cinema actors, doctors, lawyers and representative of various professions, had organized the rally in Kathmandu on Saturday to press the government to address the demands of protesting Dr Govinda KC.
Dr KC is on the 22nd day of his 15th hunger strike at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital demanding reforms in medical sector.
Addressing the rally at New Baneshwor on Saturday, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki stressed that the government must address Dr KC’s demands. “We are asking the government to accept Dr KC’s demands, which are not for his personal benefit but benefit the whole nation.” She said.
Similarly, human rights activist Krishna Pahari said the demands raised by Dr KC are people’s issues, so the government should address them at the earliest.
Also, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, former Health Minister Gagan Thapa, writer Khagendra Sangraula and actress Manisha Koirala participated in the protest rally.
