KATHMANDU, July 22: Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD), youth wing of main opposition Nepali Congress, handed over a pair of padlock and chain to District Administration Office (DAO) on Sunday as part of their ongoing protest against the government.
Before handing over the padlock and chain, cadres of Nepal Tarun Dal had staged demonstration at Maitighar Mandala and then moved on to DAO while chanting anti-government slogans.
NTD General Secretary Bhupendra Jung Shahi informed that they handed over the padlock and chain as a protest against the government’s crackdown on peaceful protest, press freedom, among others. He informed that NTD has submitted such padlocks and chain to DAO in all DAO offices across the country.
Stating that they have requested the DAO to handover those locks and chains to Prime Minister KP Oli, Shai said, “As an attempt to protest against the government’s crackdown on press freedom, civil rights and to caution it, we handed over the padlocks and chains to the DAO.”
