Law minister Tamang resigns (photo features)
KATHMANDU, July 24: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sher Bahadur Tamang resigned from his post by organizing a press meet at the ministry in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
Minister Tamang offered his resignation following his controversial remarks about Nepali female students pursuing MBBS degree in Bangladesh.
His statement had received a lot of criticism from political leaders, members of civil society and on social media.
Tamang had later apologized for his sexist remarks clarifying that his intention was to show the problem faced by Nepali students and to protect the women’s honor.
The minister who has been in the post for the past four months said he would be always with the government for its “prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali campaign” no matter where he would be.
