Govt teams preparing for formal talks with Dr Govinda KC

KATHMANDU, July 25: A government team formed to hold talks with agitating Prof Dr Govinda KC has started consultations with experts and bodies concerned.

The team has begun further homework on the matter on the basis of its discussions held with exerts Tuesday on the witness of Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) chair K P Sharma Oli and party another chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The Tuesday meeting was coordinated by NCP parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nembang on behalf of the government.

It is said that the team was planning to sit for formal talks with Dr KC by listing points for amendments to the National Medical Education Bill basing on the suggestions of experts and demands of the agitating senior orthopedic surgeon.

Government talks team committee coordinator and secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Khagraj Baral, has said the positive atmosphere is being built for talks with the agitating doctor.

Dr KC has been on the fast-onto-death since the past 26 days, demanding reforms in the medical education. His health is deteriorating.
