Demand for mega and smart cities in the States
KATHMANDU, July 28: The Municipalities Association of Nepal has submitted a 16-point memorandum to Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, demanding development of mega and smart cities in all the seven provinces.
A delegation led by Association Coordinator Ashok Byanju handed over the memo to the Prime Minister at the latter’s office on Friday. In the memo, the Association has called for at least one mega city each in every province and 50 smart cities across the country.
On the occasion, Coordinator Byanju also drew the attention of the Prime Minister towards the problem of human resource facing the local level governments.
The memo calls for handover of the thematic offices, removing of obstruction to the collection of integrated property tax, increasing the limitation of internal debt of the local governments, among others.
It also demands formation of a mechanism led by the Prime Minister for collaboration and coordination between the federation, state and the local governments. RSS
