NC women MPs demand immediate action on Kanchanpur teen rape and murder
KATHMANDU, July 28: Female lawmakers of main opposition Nepali Congress have demanded action against the murderer of Nirmala Pant, 13, who was killed after being raped in Kanchanpur on Friday.
Victim’s body was found in a sugar cane field. Organizing a press meet at the Reporters Club Nepal on Saturday, they demanded swift and stern action against the perpetrator of the incident.
In Kanchanpur district, 17 rape cases have been found in a year. According to media reports, four rape cases have been registered since June this year. Of these four victims three were killed after being raped.
NC Central Committee member and lawmaker Dr Dila Sangraula, lawmakers – Laxmi Pariyar Mahendra Kumari Limbu, Rangamati Shahi, Gyan Kumari Chhantyal, Namita Kumari Chaudhary, Bimala Subedi and Mina Subba voiced their concerns on the growing insecurity in the district and called on the government to take immediate actions.
