Stern action against murderers and criminals: Home Minister Thapa
KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that serious attention of the government was drawn towards the rape and murder of a girl in Kanchanpur as well as attack on a lawmaker Nirudevi Pal.
Speaking at a ‘special hour’ in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Home Minister Thapa briefed the House about both incidents.
A 13-year girl Niramala Panta was murdered after rape at Bhimduttanagar Municipality last week. Informing the House that police have started search for the accused and investigation into the incident, he expressed the commitment that stern action would be taken against the guilty.
The Home Minister such criminal activities take place due to consumption of alcohol and drugs, directing the local administration not to let occur such criminal activities in days ahead.
He further said that the government would take necessary step to control unregulated alcohol and drugs.
Saying the attack on lawmaker Nirupal was of a political nature, Home minister Thapa said that arrangement of security has been made to lawmaker Pal and investigation into the incident was underway. RSS
