22 metric tonnes waste collected
KATHMANDU, Aug 4: As usual schedule of sanitation in the Kathmandu Valley, people from various places collected garbage from river banks and streets on Saturday as well.
Various organizations and local people involved in the campaigns collecting 22 metric tonnes of waste.
The Bagmati beauty concern forum began cleaning the street and picking garbage from the Bagmati River ensuring participation of local people’s representatives.
With the initiative of Komaleshwor Ward No 3 people and their representatives, the garbage of the Bagmati River was managed in the Gokarneshwor Municipality, Syalamati, Suryamati and Chandramati areas.
The cleanup campaign was also launched by the Kageshwori Manohara Munciipality-8 and Kathmandu Metropolis Ward No 6 and 7.
As part of the 273rd week of the Bagmati cleanup campaign, sanitation was maintained in the Pashupati Rammandir area.
Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police, Pudashaini Friendship Society, Tilganga Women’s Group, Makalbari Tole Sudhar Society and Hamro Jorpati Ramro Jorpati involved in the cleaning up.
Other places collecting and managing the waste were Dillibazar, Sundarighat, Jadibuti Manohara, Sano Bharyang, Bafal, Sitapaila.
People from different walks of life joined the campaign despite rains.
