Province 5 discusses with Chinese team on feasibility of mono rail

BUTWAL, Aug 11: The Province 5 government has held a discussion with a Chinese delegation on the feasibility study of a mono rail in Lumbini.

Chief Minister of the province, Shankar Pokhrel and the team from the Chinese Railway Company held the talks on the feasibility study of the mono rail on Ramgram-Lumbini-Kapilvastu under the Buddha circuit.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Pokharel said there was huge potential of tourism in the Buddha circuit and the government has given priority to the infrastructure development for it.

The Chinese team is urged to hold further talks with the province planning commission, Lumbini Development Trust.

During the meeting, General Manager of Nepal Branch of China Overseas Group under China Railway International Group Wang Yu and Economist of China Railway International Group Yang Kwang and other members were present.

General Manager Wang committed to move ahead by holding consultations with the province government regarding the feasibility study of monorail in Buddha Circuit.
On the occasion, the Chinese team also made its presentation on possibility of monorail in Lumbini.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Kul Prasad KC, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment Leela Giri, Minister for Physical Infrastructure Baijanath Chaudhary, Chief Secretary of the province Tirtha Dhakal, Province Planning Commission Vice Chair Dr Prakash Shrsetha, Member Secretary of Lumbini Development Trust Bishnu Dhakal and secretaries of the province ministries.
